from the greek mythology series

Persophone, Demeter’s daughter, was stolen by Hades and taken to the Underworld. Demeter, the goddess of harvest, deprived Greece of its bountiful crops, fruit and flora due to her sadness. After witnessing Demeter’s effect on earth, Zeus agreed to try and save Persephone. Quite unfortunately, she bit into an underworld pomegranate moments before she was to be released. As a result, she was destined to live in the underworld forever, allowed to return to above ground only six months of the year.
A reflection of our seasons, of both bounty and deprivation.
