King Minos of Crete was furious that Thesus escaped from the Labyrinth and assumed that Daedalus taught him how. He locked Daedalus and his son Icarus in the Labyrinth as punishment. He created two pairs of wings for them but warned Icarus not to fly too close to the sun, for the glue binding the wings could melt. Enthralled with the power of flying, Icarus did not heed the warning, thus falling to his death into the Aegean Sea below.
